An influx of people into Columbus made it one of the top growth cities for families that moved during 2012, says a new report from U-Haul International Inc.

The moving equipment and storage rental company’s 2012 U.S. Growth Cities Report shows Columbus slated at No. 9 with a 4.15 percent growth rate, meaning the market saw its number of inbound moves exceed outbound moves by that percentage.

The report includes cities with more than 5,000 families moving in or out of the area. Pittsburgh took the top spot with a 9 percent growth rate, followed by Henderson, Nev., Austin, Texas and Reno, Nevada. No other Ohio cities ranked among the 30 highest-growth areas.

Phoenix, Ariz.-based U-Haul, owned by Amerco (NASDAQ:UHAL), compiled the report from more than 1.6 million one-way truck transactions occurring over a 12-month period.
